1. Overview

The Branded App allows eligible GroupApp customers to publish a custom-branded iOS and Android application that presents their GroupApp community under their own brand identity.

These terms govern eligibility, setup, ongoing operation, modification, and termination of the Branded App. By purchasing or activating a Branded App, you agree to these terms in addition to GroupApp’s standard Terms of Service.

2. Eligibility

The Branded App is available only on subscriptions to GroupApp’s eligible plans as published on group.app/pricing.

Legacy, grandfathered, or discontinued plans are not eligible, regardless of feature parity with currently published plans. Free and lower-tier plans are not eligible.

You must maintain an active, eligible subscription at all times to keep your Branded App functional. If your subscription lapses, you downgrade to a non-eligible plan, or your plan is discontinued and you do not transition to a current eligible plan, the terms in Section 9 (Downgrades and Termination) apply.

3. Setup Fee Structure

The Branded App setup fee is determined by your subscription type:

Subscription TypeBranded App Setup Fee
Annual subscription on an eligible planIncluded (no setup fee)
Monthly subscription on an eligible planSetup fee applies

Current setup fee amounts are published on group.app/pricing. The setup fee, where applicable, is non-refundable once GroupApp has begun work on your Branded App.

4. Hosting Options

4.1 Standard Branded App

The Standard Branded App is published under GroupApp’s Apple Developer Program and Google Play Console accounts. This is the default offering and is included with all eligible annual subscriptions.

Under the Standard Branded App:

  • Your Branded App is published in GroupApp’s developer accounts on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  • GroupApp manages all aspects of the developer account relationship, including certificates, provisioning, store listings, and review processes
  • You are not required to maintain your own Apple Developer Program or Google Play Console accounts
  • Your app appears in the stores with your branding (icon, name, screenshots, listing copy)

4.2 Complete White Label

For customers who require their Branded App to be published under their own Apple Developer Program and Google Play Console accounts โ€” typically due to compliance, regulatory, or corporate identity requirements โ€” GroupApp offers a Complete White Label option.

Complete White Label is not a published self-service tier. It is available on inquiry only and is structured as a custom plan based on the customer’s specific requirements.

To inquire about Complete White Label, contact [email protected]. Pricing, scope, and terms for Complete White Label are determined per customer and are not governed by these Standard Branded App terms.

The remainder of this document refers to the Standard Branded App unless otherwise noted.

5. Setup Process

The Branded App setup follows a single managed process:

  1. You submit brand inputs to GroupApp, including: logo files, brand colors, desired app name, intended app description, app icon, splash screen, and any other brand assets requested by GroupApp.
  2. GroupApp reviews submitted inputs with you and confirms scope, branding decisions, listing copy, and any clarifications required to proceed.
  3. GroupApp builds your Branded App using your approved brand inputs applied to GroupApp’s standard application infrastructure.
  4. GroupApp submits your Branded App to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for review.
  5. GroupApp manages the review process with both stores, including responding to reviewer feedback and resubmissions where applicable.
  6. Your Branded App is published to both stores following approval.

You are responsible for providing all required brand inputs in a timely manner. GroupApp does not guarantee specific timelines for build or publication, as review timelines are controlled by Apple and Google.

A self-service or DIY setup path is not offered. All Branded App setups are managed by GroupApp.

6. What GroupApp Provides

For all Branded App customers, GroupApp provides:

  • The underlying application infrastructure and codebase
  • Hosting and content delivery for all community data accessed through the app
  • Periodic updates to support new iOS and Android operating system versions
  • Bug fixes and security patches as needed
  • Push notification infrastructure
  • Standard support during business hours via the support channels included in your plan

GroupApp does not provide:

  • Marketing or App Store Optimization (ASO) services
  • App-specific user analytics beyond what is included in your GroupApp plan
  • Custom feature development specific to your app
  • Localization or translation services
  • Custom application design beyond the standard GroupApp interface with your branding applied

7. License and Ownership

The Branded App is provided to you as a licensed software service. GroupApp grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Branded App in connection with your eligible subscription.

The Branded App, including its underlying source code, application binaries, software architecture, design system, and supporting infrastructure, is the intellectual property of GroupApp and is licensed โ€” not sold โ€” to you. Your subscription grants you the right to operate the Branded App as a service while your subscription remains active.

Your brand assets โ€” including your logo, brand colors, app name, listing copy, and other materials you submit โ€” remain your property. You grant GroupApp a license to use these materials solely for the purpose of operating and maintaining your Branded App during the term of your subscription.

Upon termination, downgrade, or lapse of your eligible subscription:

  • Your license to use the Branded App ends
  • The Branded App is disabled and removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  • GroupApp retains all rights to the underlying software, code, and infrastructure
  • Your brand assets are returned to your sole ownership and are no longer used by GroupApp

Source code, application binaries, technical assets, and underlying intellectual property are not transferable to you under any circumstances, including subscription termination. This is consistent with standard software-as-a-service licensing.

8. Customization Scope

The Branded App reflects your brand through:

  • App icon
  • Splash screen
  • App name
  • App Store and Google Play listing copy
  • Theme color within the application interface
  • Push notifications sent from your branded app

The underlying interface, navigation structure, and feature set are the standard GroupApp experience. The Branded App is not a custom-developed application. Requests for custom features, custom layouts, or non-standard functionality are outside the scope of the Branded App offering and will not be fulfilled.

9. Downgrades and Termination

9.1 Voluntary Downgrade

If you downgrade your subscription from an eligible plan to a non-eligible plan:

  • Your Branded App will be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  • Members who have already installed your app will lose access to functionality โ€” the app will no longer load community content
  • You will receive a confirmation warning before the downgrade is finalized, listing the consequences
  • No refund will be issued for any setup fees previously paid
  • Per Section 7, you do not retain ownership of any application code, binaries, or infrastructure

9.2 Subscription Lapse or Cancellation

If your eligible subscription lapses due to non-payment or cancellation, the consequences described in Section 9.1 apply.

9.3 Annual to Monthly Switch at Renewal

If you switch from annual to monthly billing at renewal:

  • Your Branded App remains active
  • Your monthly subscription rate applies going forward
  • No additional setup fee is charged for this transition, as the setup work was already completed under your prior annual subscription

9.4 Monthly to Annual Upgrade

If you upgrade from monthly to annual billing while your Branded App is active:

  • Your Branded App remains active
  • Your annual rate applies going forward
  • No refund of previously paid setup fees is issued

9.5 Termination by GroupApp

GroupApp may terminate your Branded App in cases of:

  • Violation of these terms or GroupApp’s standard Terms of Service
  • Repeated or material violations of Apple App Store or Google Play guidelines
  • Use of the app to distribute prohibited content (per Apple, Google, or GroupApp policy)
  • Non-payment or chargebacks

In cases of termination by GroupApp, the same removal process described in Section 9.1 applies. Refunds are at GroupApp’s sole discretion and are not guaranteed.

10. Apple App Store and Google Play Store Compliance

The Branded App’s publication and continued availability on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store is subject at all times to those platforms’ approval and ongoing compliance with their respective policies, including but not limited to:

  • Apple App Store Review Guidelines
  • Google Play Developer Program Policies
  • Any updates, changes, or new requirements imposed by Apple or Google at any time

You acknowledge and agree that:

  1. Publication is subject to platform approval. Apple and Google have sole discretion over whether to approve, reject, or remove any app from their stores. GroupApp does not guarantee initial approval, ongoing availability, or any specific timeline for review.
  2. Your app must remain compliant with all applicable platform policies. This includes content guidelines, monetization rules, data practices, age ratings, design guidelines, and any other policies Apple or Google publish or update.
  3. GroupApp will use best efforts to ensure compliance. GroupApp will design, build, and submit your Branded App in accordance with our understanding of current Apple and Google policies. We will work in good faith to address reviewer feedback and resolve compliance issues during the review process.
  4. GroupApp cannot guarantee compliance in all cases. Platform policies evolve, are interpreted differently by individual reviewers, and may apply to content or features in ways we cannot fully anticipate. If Apple or Google determine your app does not meet their requirements โ€” whether at initial review or after publication โ€” that determination is final.
  5. If Apple or Google require removal, GroupApp will comply. If, after publication, Apple or Google request, require, or unilaterally execute the removal of your Branded App from their store for any reason โ€” including policy violations, content issues, account-level enforcement, or platform-wide policy changes โ€” GroupApp will comply with that requirement. The Branded App will be removed from the affected store. GroupApp will work in good faith to find alternative solutions where possible, including potential re-publication efforts.
  6. No refund or compensation is owed for platform-driven removal. If your Branded App is removed by Apple, Google, or by GroupApp acting on their requirement, no refund of setup fees or subscription fees will be issued. GroupApp’s obligation is limited to best effort in publishing and maintaining your app within the platforms’ rules.
  7. Re-publication after removal is not guaranteed. If your Branded App is removed and you wish to attempt re-publication after addressing the compliance issue, GroupApp will assess whether re-submission is feasible. Additional work required to bring the app into compliance may be billable as a rebuild per Section 11.

11. Fees, Modifications, and Rebuilds

11.1 Setup Fee โ€” Non-Refundable

Where a setup fee applies (monthly subscriptions per Section 3), it is non-refundable once GroupApp has begun work on your Branded App. Refunds will not be issued for:

  • Customer-initiated downgrades after setup completion
  • Customer choice to discontinue the app
  • Customer dissatisfaction with the standard GroupApp interface (which is not customized as part of setup)
  • App Store or Google Play rejection due to customer-provided content, branding, or policy violations on the customer’s part
  • App removal by Apple or Google per Section 10

11.2 Subscription Fees

Subscription fees follow GroupApp’s standard billing terms. Branded App functionality is contingent on an active, eligible subscription.

11.3 Re-Activation After Termination or Downgrade

If you previously had a Branded App that was removed (through downgrade, lapse, termination, or platform removal) and wish to re-activate:

  • The Branded App must be rebuilt and re-submitted from scratch
  • The prevailing setup fee at the time of re-activation applies, as published on group.app/pricing
  • You must be on an active, eligible subscription at the time of re-activation
  • Re-publication timelines depend on Apple and Google review processes and are not guaranteed

11.4 Future Modifications and Rebuilds

Modifications after initial publication โ€” including changes to app name, icon, splash screen, listing copy beyond minor edits, or significant redesigns โ€” are billed at the prevailing rebuild rate at the time of the request, as published on group.app/pricing. These modifications are not included in any prior setup fee or in your subscription.

Minor updates such as small listing copy edits or screenshot refreshes may be performed at GroupApp’s discretion at no additional charge but are not guaranteed.

12. Data, Privacy, and Compliance

12.1 Data Ownership

All community data within your Branded App โ€” members, content, transactions, communications โ€” remains your data, subject to GroupApp’s standard Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

This is separate from and not the same as Section 7 (License and Ownership). You own your community data. You do not own the application software.

12.2 Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

You are responsible for providing your own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service URLs for your app’s store listings. These must comply with Apple and Google requirements as well as applicable laws in the jurisdictions where your app is available.

12.3 Compliance with Applicable Laws

You are responsible for ensuring your app’s content, monetization model, data practices, and user interactions comply with all applicable laws in all jurisdictions where your app is available.

13. Liability and Indemnification

GroupApp’s liability with respect to the Branded App is limited to the terms outlined in GroupApp’s standard Terms of Service.

You agree to indemnify GroupApp against claims arising from:

  • Content you publish through your Branded App
  • Your use of the app in violation of these terms or applicable law
  • Disputes between you and your app’s end users
  • Violations of Apple, Google, or other third-party platform terms

14. Changes to These Terms

GroupApp may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to active Branded App customers with at least 30 days’ notice before taking effect.

Continued use of the Branded App after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
